MINUTES FROM JANUARY 10TH, 2010 MEETING
Welcome Guests: George Forest, Ken Simpson, Mike Cook, David Lewis, Rob Beecroft, Bob Curlson & Bill & Annette Richmond.
Reminder of Elections next month at our February Meeting. We now have nominee’s for each of our Executive positions. Thanks to those that volunteered to allow their names to stand for these positions.
Ike spoke on the upcoming Motorcycle Ride For Dad scheduled for May 15th and the new Ride To Live scheduled for June 6th. Both Charities are collecting funds for Prostate Cancer Research and Treatment. There appears to be a conflict in that the Organizers of the Ride To Live, claim there are no funds available for after Cancer treatment follow up with the MCRFD. They also claim not all funds raised remain in B.C. Ike is to meet with the Organizers of the MCRFD to ask questions on behalf of our Chapter, should we decide to sponsor either of the fundraisers. Further information will be made available at our next meeting.
Membership numbers following this meeting are: 45 paid up members consisting of 37 Regular, 3 Associate, 4 Honorary and 1 Special Honorary. We still have one member that has not paid up for 2010.
International advises Charity Stats for 2009 that the Blue Knights Internationally donated in excess of 1 million dollars in Charitable Works and cash for the year. A very impressive figure that can only help promote our Organization. Good work by all.
Reminder that the SWC/WCC Conference to be held in Grand Junction, Colorado this July is fast approaching. The Host Hotel is now full, but they have rooms available in the attached Conference Portion of the Hotel. Book now if planning on attending. Also Registration rates jump from $90.00 US to $115.00 per person after June 15th.
Ron R. gave a short (yes believe it or not SHORT) talk on Highway routes planned for attending International in Billings and SWC/WCC Conferences. He has made contact with other BK Chapters along the way to possibly join up with us.
Amanda & Peter have recently married. Congrats to them both.
Amanda gave a short talk about a young boy, Ashton Combdon, son of a Military family in Esquimalt. Ashton is battling an intestinal disease, which prohibits him from digesting his food. He requires tube feeding. He can not get the necessary treatment in Canada and has to go to the U.S.A. for treatment. A fund raiser on January 9th raised about $15,000 to assist the family. Members present at our meeting passed the hat and $200.00 was raised in lieu of our normal 50/50 draw and the Chapter donated a further $100.00. Thank you all for your generous donation to the family. Thank you Amanda for bringing this event to our attention.
Jim W. asked if anyone planned on attending the Motorcycle Show in Abbottsford, and if so maybe we could go over as a group.
Both Jim Brewin and Earl Kearley’s names have been added to Heaven 1 website by International.
No 50/50 draw this month as Sandy was not able to attend.

Secretary's Report
Unfortunately, I missed this past meeting because I was busy boosting moral in the dungeons. Apparently they like my cherub-like demeanor! Who would have thought? Anyway, I plan on attending the next meeting in February so I don't miss out on the 50/50 draw winnings. (I'm due!) I will bring the second gift for someone that I missed even though I didn't win it last time. As of the February meeting we will hopefully only be about a month away from riding season again. I hope everyone has properly winterized their bike and will also do the proper system checks before venturing forth in the spring! Is it spring yet? Be sure to have a look at our Rides & Events page for the annual Father's Day ride planned by Ed S.
