The Blue Knights Chapter BC-IV is a LAW ENFORCEMENT club for motorcycle enthusiasts on Vancouver Island. Please see the International Website for qualification details.

    Our last meeting was held at the ABC restaurant in South Nanaimo on July 11th and the weather was sunny and warm.

Minutes of Regular Meeting 2010-07-11 

Meeting brought to order by Ed S. at 11:50 AM.

Minutes of last meeting reviewed and approved.

Ed read an e-mail from Randy Gilbert who is currently serving in Afghanistan.

Ed mentioned that a committee has been formed to look into setting up the WCC for 2013 in Nanaimo. If we are successful in our bid to hold the conference here in Nanaimo, we will be looking for volunteers to help with the organization etc.

Ed gave a report on the very successful HOG rally held recently in Victoria.

He also mentioned more detail on the upcoming conference in Billings Montana and Grand Junction.

Ed stated that we have been invited to the Osoyoos run put on by BC-I on Sept. 10 – 12. (See the coming events section for details)

No treasurers report as the treasurer (Gary S.) was not present at this meeting.

Norm U. mentioned that our help was requested again this year at the Duncan Summer Festival Parade which will be held this Saturday July 17th.

Connie G. mentioned that there will be a poker run in Cumberland on August 7 – 8th.

Tom G. thanked Ed S. for his commitment to the job of President of our chapter.

Terry & Sharon W. distributed the recent t-shirt order and collected the appropriate fees for each.

Inquiries were made with no success as to who we would pay our web fees to. It was noted that we haven’t paid any fees for the past 3 years?!

It was also mentioned that a recent informal meeting was held with Karl Hutchinson from the Board of Governors and he would take forward our concerns regarding the “Orca” chapters.

Ed inquired about whether or not minutes of past meetings were kept for any length of time. I informed him that I had copies back for at least a few years and that I would check to see how far back.

Norm mentioned that Sandy B. still wasn’t here and we would should find someone else to continue the 50/50 draw to keep our funds growing.

A gift was raffled and Norm U. was the lucky winner and will be required to bring a gift to the next meeting.

Next meeting will be held September 19th 2010 – same time, same place.

 Secretary's Report

First off , I must apologize for my tardiness in getting the message out this month. I have been summoned to the dungeons on a more regular basis than usual and since my last name isn't Rockefeller, I am still there doing penance.  On the other hand, the weather has been superb for riding so any time off that I've had has been spent murdering insects with my windshield! Other than that I have no excuses! As you have read above, there was no meeting in August other than the WCC group meeting of course. Please check the Rides & Events section above for some new rides which may interest you. Hopefully, the warm summer shall continue until our next meeting in September. I'm sure there will be many good road stories to tell so see you all there. Until then, support your chapter and.......

            Our next meeting will be held on Sunday September 19th 2010 at 11:30 AM at the ABC restaurant at the Day's Inn which is just south of the MGM restaurant on the south Island Highway in Nanaimo. They are located at 809 Island Highway. Their phone number is (250) 754-8171 in case you get lost. Come out and support your Chapter and I'm sure a good time will be had by all.
